COEPA organised a working meeting to determine tourist routes based on natural and cultural resources in the framework of SHIFT project
A working meeting between the Business Association of Hotels of Benidorm and the Costa Blanca (HOSBEC) and the Tourism Research Institute of the University of Alicante, has been organized by SEIMED, European Business Centre, next to the Department of Tourism COEPA in the European project SHIFT.
SHIFT is an European initiative coordinated by the Naples Chamber of Commerce with the participation of COEPA next to other seven organizations from Italy, France, Greece and Spain. This project receives financial support from European Union, 1,3 million of euros, through the Med program. This European programme co-finances projects of interregional cooperation in Mediterranean through the European Regional Development Fund.
The aim of the project is to analyze and highlight the factors that affect the sustainability of the tourism sector in coastal areas and islands of the Mediterranean as well as determine a common format and transferable to the Mediterranean regions in order to face up the challenge of sustainability, and create a stable network of organizations.
Moreover, SHIFT Project will develop pilot initiatives to promote the cultural and natural local heritage in order to complement the current tourist offer. These actions are addressed to distribute the pressure touristic and face up to the competence of emerging destinations.
These actions are addressed to create thematic routes as well as to organize study visits to be presented them to tour operators.
After the meeting between the IUIT, HOSBEC and COEPA it have been set the main topics of the two routes which will have Benidorm as a starting poin and also criteria to join the economic viability with the espect to the environment.
To design routes from Alicante city, COEPA and IUIT will count with the collaboration of APHA and APEHA.
